Female rugby should be fun to play, affordable, and an opportunity to teach life skills.
At the Gauteng Women’s Rugby Institute, we provide quality coaching in rugby specific skills, strength, and conditioning. Our coaching staff is a team. We work together and attend World Rugby accredited coaching trainings to provide all players with high level training.
We are for the elite, experienced, and everyone. We do not exclude any player based on their socio-economic position as we are a non-profit organization that creates partnerships with local- and provincial government and with the private sector. We value these partnerships. Through these partnerships we can offer a variety of programs and study fields to all our female players. Rugby is in our DNA. We love the sport and want to pass that love on to the young female generation in South Africa.

At the Gauteng Women’s Rugby Institute, our coaches will push you to be a better player while having a blast as a team and creating life-long memories. Developing character and going beyond the sport. Through our core value program, we will take time to focus on the life lesson taught through sport.
At GWRI we offer a safe environment for the girls to live in and provide them with 3 meals a day. Through our partnership with several educational providers, we will help creating a career path for our players as there are life after rugby. We will work on an individual long-term player development model for each individual female player, but also look at options of following a career in rugby through coaching, referee, and administration programs. Developing player to a maximum potential while conveying life values and building a healthy lifestyle.
