The Gauteng Women’s Rugby Institute offers talented young female rugby players between the ages of 18 and 24 the chance to study and play in an environment that is as close as it gets to a professional club. We created a high-performance program that will be developing players as well as preparing them for a career beyond their sport.

Female rugby has been on the back burner for to long. We have a school that caters for thousands of girls and created an opportunity for the girls to participate in ward games, regional games, provincial games, and national games.

We have created a club structure that now caters for the most female rugby players in the country.

Because of no formal structure for female rugby at universities, we now realized that we need to create and opportunity for girls that are leaving school in a high performance structure, but also have an opportunity to study and further their career in sports administration / information technologies / education and even artisans.

Funny enough, female rugby does not get played by traditional rugby playing schools. Most female rugby players come from the township and rural areas. This means that they cannot afford to go to further their studies after school any way.

With the newly established Gauteng Women’s Rugby Institute we will source funding from companies, government, and other organizations
